Evaluation
I will be able to judge the impact of the new projects by comparing assessment data to years passed. I am required to track students’ pre and post test data so I have two years worth of data to compare it to. In addition to standard assessments, I will also provide a rubric for my students’ video projects as well with the focus on quality, content, and originality. The video will allow for my students to show their knowledge in ways that they could not before and they will have the ability to redefine their work making sure that they get their point across along with making a clear and concise product. Within each unit test that a video project was completed I will have a free response section where students will be asked to explain a concept in real-world terms. I will ask them two different scenarios, one where we watched a video and then discussed the issue in class. Second, I will ask them about a concept that we discussed in class but did not watch a video on. From there I will compare the results of the two questions to the pretest and then noting if there is a difference between the two questions on the posttest. I would look for a difference in depth of knowledge and overall understanding of the topic. I want to know that my students made a meaningful connection with the material and that they can apply these ideas outside of the classroom. With that further application of the ideas I would also like to see an increase in their MME scores related to those given topics. The final evaluation tool that I would use is to have my students complete an anonymous survey where they would rate how their confidence with the material and general feedback about the video project.
